About Goa Beaches |

Falling
on the western coastline of India by the side of the Arabian sea, tiny Goa
has a number of magnificent beaches. The beaches have been divided into
three categories-northern beaches, southern beaches and beaches falling in
central Goan coastline. Regarded as the cleanest and the most happening
beaches of India, the scenic beauty of Goan beaches enthralls one and all.
The beaches also offer some diversity. While a few beaches are highly
commercialized, some are located in secluded locations. Again, some beaches
offer the most serene ambience while some are always abuzz with activity.

» Baga Beach : Baga beach is a part of the
30-km stretch of the western beach coastline of Goa. Located by the side of
the Arabian sea, this beach begins at Fort Aguada and merges into Calangute
beach. Away from the hustle and bustle of Calangute, the calm environs of
Baga is appreciated by many.
» Varca Beach :
A quiet beach with a bountiful beauty of nature, soft white sandy Varca lies
on the southern coastline of Goa. Comparable to the other beaches of Goa,
Varca is a cleaner and quieter beach. Varca is preferred by those who want
to spend time in quiet environs away from the crowd.
» Candolim Beach : Charming Candolim is a canvas of
quite a few bright shades. An unknown beach till a few years back, Candolim
now draws tourists in large numbers. A straight beach without the perennial
beach curves, the scrub-covered dunes of this white sandy beach enhances its
beauty further.
» Majorda Beach : Majorda is a small but attractive
Goan beach that falls on the southern coast of the state. By the side of the
Arabian sea, this beach stretches about 5 Kms north of the bigger Colva
Beach. To Majorda's north are two other small beaches, the deserted northern
end of Arossim and Utorda beach. For the tourist in desperate search of
perfect silence amidst breathtaking scenery, Majorda is the place to be in
» Covla Beach : Colva is one of the most popular
beaches of Goa. Spreading over a distance of 20 kms, Colva is Goa's longest
beach. The virgin white powder sands coupled with tall palm trees makes
Colva one of the most picturesque beaches of Goa. away from Panaji,
» Calangute Beach :
Lying on the northern coastline of Goa by the side of Arabian Sea, Calangute
is Goa's most commercialized and busiest beach. Regarded as Goa's flagship
beach which is always projected by the tourism department to the world to
attract outside tourists, Calangute today symbolises Goa's reputation of
being a haven for beach holiday.
» Anjuna Beach : Sandwiched in between another two
of Goa's picturesque beaches, Anjuna is regarded as the hot and happening
beach of Goa. There is much more to Anjuna other than the spectacular sight
of white waves rushing in to embrace the yellow sand of the beaches. The
beach is located on the northern coastline of Goa by the side of the Arabian
sea. Palm trees dot most of the Anjuna landscape.
» Dona Paula Beach : Dona Paula beach is one of the
hottest spots of Goa. People throng the Dona Paula beach not only to enjoy
the sun and the sea but also take part in the various water sport activities
on the beach. Fishermen-turned-local vendors sell straw hats, lace
handkerchiefs and other similar items which adds to the colour of the place.

» The Sunrise and Sunset Views :
The unadulterated beauty of nature can be witnessed from close quarters at
the beaches of Goa. Tourists throng the numerous beaches during early
morning and evening to have a glimpse of the breathtaking view during
sunrise and sunset. Tourists also love to walk long distances on the beaches
as the waves continuously caress their feat.
» Water Sports : Water sport activities are very
popular in some of the Goan beaches. The fun activities include parasailing,
water skiing and wind surfing. Not to be left out are swimming, beach
volleyball and water polo. Tourists can also enjoy boat cruises in a few
beaches having weak currents. The fun activities generally begin in the
afternoon and go on till sunset.
» The Food Joints : Seafood is Goa's staple and
Goans do not believe in discriminating against tourists when it comes to
serving their staple. Gorgeous restaurants dot almost all the Goan beaches.
Along with delicious Goan cuisine, tourists are also bestowed the privilege
of tasting the finest of Goan wines.
» The Nightlife : A few Goan beaches like Covla are
very popular for their nightlife. The night life normally centres round the
bars on the beach which play funky music at all times and remain open till
midnight. Foreign tourists coming to the beaches could be seen partying very
hard. Tourists can enjoy to their hilt in the beaches of Goa.
