» Jaisalmer Fort : The fort stands about 100
m over the city and in fact houses a citadel within its massive ramparts.
Walk down the narrow cobbled stone lanes, and feel the sheer magic of
Jaisalmer. The fort is approached through four gateways - Ganesh Pol, Suraj
Pol, Akhaiya Pol and the Hava Pol.
» Jain Temple : Built in the 12th to 15th century,
this group of fine Jain temples are located within the Jaisalmer Fort. They
are beautifully carved and dedicated to Rikhabdevji, Parswanathji and
Sambhavnathji.
» Havelis of Jaisalmer : The most exotic mansions or
havelis, all intricately latticed, are stretched all over Jaisalmer, each
with a different facade. Patwon Ki Haveli, Nathmalji-Ki-Haveli and Salim
Singh-ki-Haveli are some of the havelis which are worth visiting.

Sagar (5 km) and Bada Bagh (6 km).

Since Jaisalmer lies in the heart of the great Thar Desert, it has a
typical desert climatic conditions. During summers, the temperature rises to
a maximum of 46 degrees C and minimum of 35.4 degrees C. During winters, the
maximum temperature reaches up to 14 degrees C and lowest temperature falls
to 1 degree C.
Looking at the climatic conditions of the city, the best time to visit
Jaisalmer is between October & March.

Getting There |
» By Air : The Jaisalmer airport is 5 km
from the city center. Jagson Airlines have just begun their operations to
the city which connects it with a tri-weekly flight to Delhi, Jaipur and
Jodhpur. Direct flights of Indian Airlines (Alliance Airways) also connect
the city to Delhi, Jaipur and Jodhpur.
» By Trains : Jaisalmer railway station is just off
national highway to Bikaner about 2 km from the city center. There are now
direct express trains which connect the city with Delhi, Jaipur and Jodhpur.
Besides this, it is well connected by trains to other major cities of the
country by a meter gauge line.
» By Road : A good network of roads joins Jaisalmer
with Jodhpur and many other destinations in and around Rajasthan. National
highway no: 15 connects Jaisalmer with cities like Sri Ganganagar, Bikaner,
Jaisalmer and Barmer. Some major destinations are - Jodhpur (285 km),
Bikaner via Pokhran (330 km), and Barmer via Devikot (153 km). Rajasthan
Roadways buses connect Jaisalmer with important towns of Rajasthan and
deluxe coaches depart for Jaipur in the evening.
