» Desert Festival, Jaisalmer (Jan-Feb.) :
One of the most popular among the festivals of Rajasthan, the festival
highlights the best of Rajasthani desert life. The main attraction is camel
dances, camel acrobatics, camel races and camel polo.
» Elephant Festival, Jaipur (March-April) : Held
during the period of Holi (the festival of colours), elephants are decorated
beautifully and several sports activities among elephants like football are
held.
» Gangaur Festival (March-April) : A festival is
devoted to the consort of Lord Shiva- Goddess Parvati. The long festival
spans over a period of 18 days and a grand procession is taken out marking
the arrival of Lord Shiva.
» Marwar Festival, Jodhpur (October) : The famous
Marwar festival is regarded as a festival of music and dance. The festival
is a great opportunity for understanding music and dance of Marwar region.
» Teej Festival, Jaipur (July-August) : Teej is a
very famous festival held to mark the advent of monsoons. It is essentially
a festival that is celebrated by women.
» Mewar Festival, Udaipur (March-April) :
Just like the Teej festival, Mewar festival is celebrated to welcome the
spring season. The festival is marked by songs, dances, processions,
devotional music and fireworks.
