» City Palace : Overlooking the aquamarine
expanses of the lake Pichola stands the splendid City Palace - a marvel in
granite and marble.
» The Suraj Gokhada : The balcony of the sun, is the
place where the Suryavanshi Maharanas of Mewar presented themselves to the
people in time of trouble to restore their confidence. The Mor Chowk
known for its exemplary peacock mosaics in glass and the Chini
Chitrashala distinguished for its blue and white ceramics are other
places of interest in the palace.
» Fateh Sagar : Built by Maharana Fateh Singh, this
beautiful lake is surrounded on three sides by hills and the Pratap Memorial
on the north. Boat riding facilities are also available here.

Pichola Lake : The picturesque lake that entranced Maharaja Udai Singh.
It was later enlarged by the founder. The lake is surrounded by hills,
palaces, temples, bathing ghats and embankments. Two island palaces, Jag
Mandir and Jag Niwas (Lake Palace) on the lake are of breathtaking
magnificence.
» Saheliyon-ki-Bari (Garden of the Maids of Honour) :
This small ornamental garden was the popular relaxing spot for the royal
ladies, who once strolled through these gardens. This spectacular garden has
numerous fountains in four pools, embellished with delicately chiseled
kiosks and elephants.
» Jagdish Temple : This Indo-Aryan temple, built in
1651 A.D. By Maharana Jagat Singh is the largest and the most beautiful
temple of Udaipur with remarkable sculpted images.
» Bharatiya Lok Kala Mandir : The interesting
collection showcased by this Indian folk arts museum includes folk dresses,
ornaments, puppets, masks, dolls, folk musical instruments, folk deities and
paintings.

Excursions |
Udaipur has many exciting excursion destinations around. Some of the
tourist places that you can take excursions to include Nagda, Haldighati,
Kumbhalgarh Fort, Jagat, Jaisamand Lake, Nathdwara, Ranakpur and Rajsamand
Lake. Nagda is about 23 kilometers from Udaipur. The place is famous for the
Sas-Bahu temples, which were built during the 9th and 10th century.
Haldighati is another tourist attraction that you can visit, it is a
historical site that has witnessed the fierce battle between the Mughal
emperor Akbar and Maharana Pratap in 1576. Kumbhalgarh Fort about 84
kilometers away is another wonderful site. The fort was built in the 15th
century by Maharana Kumbha. You can also visit Kumbhalgarh Wildlife
Sanctuary from Kumbhalgarh Fort. Jaisamand Lake about 58 kilometers from
Udaipur makes an exciting getaway from Udaipur. The lake was built by
Maharana Jai Singh. Ranakpur is about 90 kilometers away from Udaipur, which
is famous for its Jain temples. The temple complex houses many beautiful
temples that reflect the art and craft the region.

Udaipur has a tropical climate, but more pleasing than other places
in Rajasthan. In the summers, mercury rises up to a maximum of 38.3°C
and the minimum temperature goes below only till 28ºC. Winters are a
little cold with the maximum temperature rising to 28.8°C and the
minimum dipping to 11.6°C. The annual total rainfall is 61 cm. The best
time to visit Udaipur is between October & March.

» By Air : Dabok Airport (now Maharana
Pratap Airport) is 24 km from the city center. Indian Airlines and Jet
Airways flights connects Udaipur to Jodhpur, Jaipur, Aurangabad, Mumbai and
Delhi. From the airport take a taxi to reach the city.
» By Rail : The Udaipur Railway Station is about 4
km from the city center. Directly linked with all major cities including
Delhi. Udaipur is on the Western Railways meter gauge network. It is
connected by rail with Delhi, Jaipur, Ajmer, Chittargarh and Ahmedabad.
Mumbai is connected via Ahmedabad.
» By Road : The Udaipur city is on the NH no 8, the
major road link between Mumbai and Delhi. A wide network of bus services
link Udaipur with several destinations like Agra, Ahmedabad, Jodhpur and
Mount Abu. Some of the important road distance from Udaipur are : Agra, 630
km via Ajmer and Jaipur; Ahmedabad, 262 km via Ratnapur and Himmatnagar;
Ajmer, 264 km via Nathdwara and Beawar; Chittargarh, 112 km via Manglawad;
Jaipur 406 km via Ajmer; Jodhpur 275 km via Ranakpur and Pali; Mount Abu 187
km via Pindwara; Ranakpur 90 km via Savra. Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar
Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh Road Transport Corporations operate buses to
Udaipur. Private bus companies also operate in the region and luxury coaches
run at night. The State Transport Bus Stand in on the City Station Road.
